Show UTAH POULTRY SHOWS BIG GAIN IN 1939 nearly worth of commercial poultry and poultry products were produced in utah during 1930 an increase of about over the output for 1929 which was this was disclosed recently in the official annual report ot the utah poultry producers cooperative association released by clyde C edmonds salt lake general manager the million dollar gain is even more significant in face of the world alde depression in industry and agriculture and the lowest prices on record had prices remained normal the value increase would have been much more pronounced despite conditions commercial poultry industry set a new record for total price and volume during 1930 never in the 8 year history of the association have so many eggs chickens and turkeys been marketed in other states of the total volume of poultry export business the utah association handled about 83 per cent or 76 the report indicates eggs were the principal item handled by the poultry association with an export volume ot cases valued at 5 27 the dozen shipped tilled 1358 freight cars the previous year there were cases of eggs valued at in freight cars thus the increase shown in eggs was or cases turkeys exported were second in importance with pounds or 69 carloads of the worlds finest holiday meat bringing 10 some 57 carloads of turkeys were marketed out of the state last year commercial poultry produced last year including broilers and hens amounted to pounds or carloads valued at 08 in addition feed sales through the association in 1930 aggregated 89 nearly producers members of the state society participated in the returns from eggs and poultry while about 2000 others engaged in raising turkeys divided the returns from this source thy are members of the utah turkey growers association which Is affiliated with the poultry organization the poultry association the report shows ended the year in a very healthy financial condition its cash reserve at the close of 1930 was 27 there was fia in capital stock outstanding and the ratio of assets to liabilities was better than 24 to one the markets which provided outlets for utah poultry and products extended all the way from pacific coast states through the rocky mountain territory and the midwest mid west to atlantic seaboard the new york metropolitan area was the largest market of all however |
