Show OF EDUCATION MEETS DRESSING ROOM IN REAR OF STAR WILL BE ERECTED school holidays for the coming term were fixed at a meeting of the board of education held tuesday present at the meeting were president W D hammond and trustees emma newell H W balsley and dr E H walker superintendent D S L mccorkle and clerk W R mcconkle the holidays designated are as follows oct 8 and 9 county teachers institute oct 15 and 16 utah education association convention nov 26 and 27 thanksgiving dec 24 to jan 3 inclusive christmas and new years peb 22 birthday the board decided to erect a small dressing room in the rear of the star hall for the use of athletic teams in the past the shower room in the basement of the hall has been used for a dressing room and has proved unsatisfactory due to the water on the floor the new room will adjoin the showers plans will be prepared by C E bailey and bids tor the erection of the room will be opened on sept 19 it was decided to reduce the transportation por tation allowance for high school students from 10 each to and to reduce the maximum allowance to i any one family from to 25 the rule previously adopted by the board requiring that families eligible for transportation allowance must show a bona tide residence at the town moved from will be enforced strictly A number of applications for transi port atlon allowance were allowed and two were denied the superintendent was authorized to arrange for substitute teachers throughout the county and in his ab sence the principals will employ substitutes utes A number of claims were allowed at the meeting |
