Show HAVE TOUGH TIME ON DESERT grand junction sentinel howard C kilnes and ervin bee of were in the first car which passed over the utah desert ance the recent snow storm and they relate thrilling experiences of the hardship they wen forced to endure in attempting to go over the heavy drifts of snow they were returning from a business trip to price and left cisco at p m on sunday making the trip with difficulty to the cottonwood vash which they assisted another car crossing then on to the westwater avash where their car was stalled in the deep snow from 6 sunday night until 12 30 at noon yesterday when the first westbound car they met on their trip pulled them out and started them on their way mr hines stated that they built fires of the wood they gathered to keen from freezing and remained there without help tor 18 hours miles from a telephone or from a ranch house he wishes to suggest that a telephone booth be installed near the i westwater wash in order that help T may be called to those in stalled cars they drove through snows all the way from aprice to this city and mr alnes states that the wind was blowing at a terrific speed across the i esert piling snow into drifts as deep as four feet and none less than 18 everyone who is leaving for the west to use chains for the trip absolutely cannot be made with out chains and they should arrange for assistance before they undertake the journey the road from this city to a point about a mile this side of the state ahne is in a very good condition with snow plows operating continually but the road in utah is in very bad condl alon |
