Show tayloe MEETS AT mm IN m reunion approximately descendants of enjamin franklin taylor utah pioneer gathered at moab monday and tuesday in a reunion that was the most successful ever held by the family eighty four outside relatives some of them coining as far as lolles were present at the celebration being the guests of the moab members of the family the moab reunion will doubtless go down in history as the red letter occasion of the organization the attendance exceeded the most optimistic hopes of the moab people so enjoyable was the two day program that the visitors returned to their homes delighted that they had come and the doab folks are gratified that the reunion was even more of a success than they had dared to hope the visitors commenced arriving sunday afternoon and by evening the town was literally filled with taylors old and young the bishopric of the moab ward generously had turned over the L D 5 chapel and recreation hall to the family and all of the programs and business sessions were held in the building which added greatly to the success of the reunion the opening meeting was held monday forenoon in the chapel which was comfortably tilled with the visiting and moab relatives mrs C A robertson presided at the session which was opened with a hymn count your many blessings invocation was offered by bishop lee taylor of moroni A chorus of nine girls all members of the family followed the song love came calling was sung by misses merrylyn ln walker verl taylor dolores cecil taylor marguerite taylor josephine walker jo taylor and renae loveridge with miss madge playing the accompaniment the address of welcome was given by miss helen taylor president elmer F taylor of kart land new mexico gave the response in which he expressed the pleasure of the visitors at the entertainment provided them and voiced the hope that the family reunions might be held regularly hereafter bishop J E taylor of levan utah followed with an address he gava a history of the organization of the family association and also traced briefly the lives of benjamin franklin taylor a pioneer of 1850 and his sons and daughters norman elmer martin and crispin taylor mrs jane Sp atford and mrs zell bringhurst whose descendants now constitute the benjamin franklin taylor family association the two daughters of benjamin franklin taylor mrs spafford and mrs bringhurst are the only living members of the original family both residing at due to their extreme age they were unable to make the long trip to moab to attend the reunion following the address of bishop taylor two songs were sung by V P walker and L L taylor A vocal solo was rendered by mrs mennel stewart followed by a vocal solo by loyd taylor of kirtland N M after the announcements of the various programs the benediction was offered by bishop W D hammond of moab at one a sumptuous dinner f was served in the banquet room of the church byar and mrs dave A johnson of the merchants hotel onel hundred fifty members of the taylor family were seated at the tables j an evening meeting was held in the recreation hall presided over by miss alame Bisho taylor of moroni gave an address in which hac i urged the continuance of the reunions j and expressed bis appreciation of the hospitality of the moab relatives A feature of the program was a dance and songs by fourteen young girls who sang we are the taylors and happy days under the direction of misses both watts and elaine those taking part in the number were marian taylor melba rae stewart norms rae maxwell lorena taylor deone miriam taylor dixie luclle taylor helen marie taylor helen loveridge donna ann taylor graham betty lee and evelyns taylor A piano solo was rendered by miss madge ewes followed by a brief talk by decided to hold next years reunion at provo on august 4 f following the meeting an hour or two were spent in dancing light refreshments being served one of the features of the reunion was a boat trip down the colorado river on the moab garage companas comp anys large power barge the start was made at 10 30 tuesday morning with passengers the boat went down tha river as far as cans springs wash and on the return a stop was made at kings bottom where a picnic lunch was enjoyed the boat reached the moab dock on the return at 5 p m the trip was made without any mishap to mar the enjoyment of the day tuesday evening a public dance was held at the woodman hall which was crowded to near capacity it was one of the largest dances held at moab tor many months j following Is a complete list of the
