Show SCHOOL BUDGET GETS 0 K the sum of Is the total amount carried in the budget of the grand county school district for the operation of the schools during the fiscal year beginning july 1 this amount includes 1000 for the bond sinking fund and for bond interest the final budget was adopted monday by the board of education at which were present trustees robertson hammond balsley and titus the budget adopted carries a reduction of 1100 under the total amount set forth in the tentative budget which had been on file during the past monh the board figures that a tax levy of 82 mills will be required for maintenance and of a mill will be necessary for bond interest and sinking fund R C dark chairman and john peterson vice chairman of the grand county unit of the utah taxpayers association met with the board pursuant to public invitation and discussed at length the various items of proposed expenditure they found no fault with any of the items but felt that economy should be exercised wherever possible they were assured that the board would in accordance with the customary procedure take up the budget item by item and that reductions would be made wherever possible at the afternoon session a reduction of was made in the item budgeted for salaries of teachers and superintendent was deducted from traveling expenses and from the amount allotted for books supplies etc the item of miscellaneous expenses out of which a number of fixed charges are paid had not covered the cost of the school election in december hd the cost of the biennial audit each of which amounts to about this item was therefore raised from to formal approval was given the employment of james M havey as principal of the high school garland groom as teacher of home economics and spanish joseph day as coach of the high school and frederica chipman as grade teacher the board authorized the employment of R C smith co to make the biennial audit of the school district records the question of appointment of a successor to the late R T edwards trustee from elgin precinct no I 1 was discussed the sense of the meeting was that it would be desirable to let the matter go over until the regular school election in december |
