Show SUMMONED BY DEATH interesting CAREER OF PIONEER prospector AND newspaperman DRAWS TO A CLOSE the career ot another pioneer of the west one whose life was intimately associated with the early history of the boom mining camps of colorado came to a close wednesday morning when albert M rogers for twenty years a resident of moab died mr rogers who was 75 years old had been in tailing health for some time and had been seriously UI during the entire winter for the past year or more he had been cared for at the home of R L where death occurred burial took place today at the moab cemetery at the request of mr rogers made shortly prior to his death no funeral services were conducted mr rogers Is survived by a sister and brother mrs S J macfarlane Mas farlane 81 and ashley rogers 77 both residing at Call calif he was bom sept 9 1853 few men lived a more interesting life than did albert M rogers coming west when a young man he lived in many of the boom mining camps of colorado he was a prospector and miner and was also connected with a number of early day newspapers published in colorado much of his life was spent around rico and durango colo mr rogers was a writer of more than ordinary ability coming to moab some twenty years ago mr rogers engaged in prospecting here he was one of the pioneers in the discovery and development of the uranium and vanadium properties of this region and until his health failed him he continued his work of developing his claims al rogers had many trends at moab and deservedly so he was alie soul of honor a man whose word was as good as his bond news of his death will be received with sincere sorrow by a long list of friends throughout southeastern utah and colorado |
