Show MARV i 7 f VI 1 I BARN CIRCUS the barn was not used very much now ahey were even talking about pulling it down but still while they had it how much polly did love it ahe and her brothers and sister would play te the barn and they would play charales charades cha rades and sometimes they would play hide and go seel but best of all was it when thy played circus aenry would be the master of ceremonies and would introduce the wonderful performers dolly would ride an old rocklage horse that was out in the barn johnny would perform tricks on nn old trapeze out in the barn and molly would walk a rope which was very near the ground but still it was quite a trick even those who took part had to pay admission that was one ot the rules it made it so much nicer for clem who took up the payments ahe payments were of all sorts outsiders paid an apple or a pear or a plum or a few cherries which were later divided tp by all members of the family paid with pins the circus was held in the upper part of the barn and there were attio steps that led up to it one day dolly w as supposed to have nine pins to pay tor her admission and she had only been able to find eight so she went up to the second story of the barn up the little steps and said to clem who sat by an old box collecting the payments for admission do you suppose I 1 could get in tor eight pins now clem thought dolly was pretty little girl in tact be quite albed her and liked to carry her school bag and have her go on his sled with him so clem thought only a moment and said surely that will be all right dolly was much relieved tor that day she had feared she would not got in I 1 and then she performed and they all performed after the circus was all molly would walk a rope er they came back to the house and ate cut up fruit and biscuits and then they talked over their tricks they always talked too of what they would do when they grew op I 1 thina I 1 d like to ride a real horse a white horse said dolly and have a handsome man crack his whip and say 1 up now young fiery steed td like to walk a real rope and a parasol over my head and bow and smile at the people said molly id like to introduce all the wonderful performers said and then id diketo mend their broken bones lie arao had ambitions of becoming a doctor id like to perform tricks on a very fine trapeze and to go with a circus that traveled all oer the haorld johnny lie was very fond of traveling I 1 d ul e to collect the admissions said clem be so many tor a big circus and all pay real money clem was thinking too of a business man and making lots of money when he grew older oh it was fun to have a circus in the old barn and it was fun to have refreshments afterward and it was great great fun to talk over what you bouls do wh enyou grew up when yon began by placing linthe barn it made ever thing you did afterward seem so nice the barn was like that it just put you in the spirit of entertainment tor hours and hours ard |
