Show OID AGE PENSION LAW EXPLAINED RULES STRICT the old age pension law passed by the last legislature has aroused considerable sid erable interest throughout the county for the benefit ol 01 those who have not had the opportunity of reading g the law a resume of the new statute Is given below section 2 the board of county commissioners shall have the power to grant a monthly pension such as the board shall determine not to exceed twenty five dollars per month to be paid out of the county treasury to any person who has attained the age of sixty five years and Is incapacitated to gain a livelihood Is and for five yea years immediately preceding his hig a application P has been an actual bona tide fide resident of the county provided the applicant shall establish to the satisfaction of the board that he possesses the qualifications prescribed in the next sections other provisions in a nut shell are as follows applications on blanks furnished by the county auditor applicant must be a citizen of the U S and a resident of utah for 15 years last past has not been convicted of a felony during last ten years has not deserted family has not been a vagrant tor for year last past has not an income exceeding 00 tor for year last past has not sufficient property for maintenance has not deprived himself of any property in order to qualify tor for said pension has not relative responsible aho vho Is 13 able to orlef or he at the present time grand county has no funds available for old age pensions as no provision was made in the last annual budget for such disbursements bur if the commissioners decide to put the law into effect in grand county it being optional with the board a special tax levy will win have to be fixed and in that event it will be next year at least before the payment of pensions could start |
