Show fifty one holders of potash prospecting permits have been asked to show cause why their permits should not be cancelled according to an announcement no made friday by ell F taylor register of the united states land office at salt lake city the permits cover acres of land near thompsons Thomp sons in the vicinity of the crescent eagle oil well and embrace lands tn township 21 22 23 and 24 south range 18 to 20 east proposed development of the potash prospects was begun in october 1925 when fifty two filings were made and the holders of permits evidenced much enthusiasm as to making utah a real producer of potash in july 1926 representatives of those holding permits met with representatives of the department of the interior and proposed that all permits be suspended until tests could be made on one of the properties embraced in the permits the government granted this request and leslie R steele was to have made drillings to determine if there were potash deposits that would be commercially feasible for extraction so far as known no findings were made on the property and now the land office seeks to cancel all permits unless it can be shown that development work has been done |
