Show ASKS FOR ROAD representative charles redd of la sal introduced a bill in the lower house of the legislature tuesday appropriating the sum of for the completion of the road from elk ridge to the natural bridges nation al monument in san 4 juan county the measure was referred to the committee on appropriations of which mr redd is a member it is believed the prospects for favorable action on the bill are promising governor george H dern is an avowed advocate of a state appropriation pria tion for a highway to the bridges as a result of his visit to the great scenic wonders last year the oil development in the elk ridge and beet basin districts which hag created a pressing need for road facilities in that section should also be a factor in convincing the legislators of the need af the states appropriation while will not build a good road to the bridges it is certain that other funds can be made available for the work san juan county the town of blanding the forest service and private interests will doubtless make liberal appropriations to agu ment the state appropriation if it is authorized later federal aid can be secured to build a modern highway the measure is one of great im to southeastern utah and it is hoped that the business interests of both grand and son juan counties will get behind representative redd in working for it |
