| Show STATE FISH AND GAME commissioner BRINGS BIG CON OF TROUT FOR LOCAL WATERS As a result of the hearty co opera tion of david H eidsen state fish and game comm in excel of eastern brook trout were planted in mill creek tuesday by the moab fish ganne association ahe fish were accompanied to moab by commissioner madsen who personally supervised their delivery to mill creek the trout all were planted in the two lakes on upper mill creek which have been constructed ted by the local association during the past several years the fish arrived in two shipments on monday evening thirty cans of young trout reached moab and were kept alive here until 3 tuesday morning when they were taken in a truck to the mill creek bridge on brumley adge they were met by pack trains and the cans earned on up to the lakes three and five miles distant at 8 tuesday mom ing commissioner madsen accompanied by harold leonard of price and joseph allan of reached moab with a tank car carrying about young trout with several members of the moab association mr madsen immediately left for the high country being met at the mill creek bridge by the mule trains the delivery of the fish to the lakes was immediately effected and all were planted by two only a small loss of fish was sustained the delivery was the longest ever undertaken by the state fish and game department with a tank car and commissioner madsen is highly pleased with the success of the undertaking it is likely that another shipment to mill creek will be made shortly commissioner madsen remained at moab today to meet with moab sportsmen end to gain a more intimate knowledge of fish and game conditions in southeastern utah when seen by a representative of ahe tin IBS independent this morning he stated that it was a pleasure for his department to operate cooperate co with such a live organization as the moab i h f me association there is not another bunch of fellows in the state that are doing the things the moab boys are doing to improve fishing and the recreational resources of their locality he declared the moab association I 1 can readily see has been spending a lot of money to provide fishing on mill creek and it deserves and will get the consideration and help of the state department I 1 am sure that the money moab has expended on this project is well invested as mill creek should be a paradise within another year the stream appears to xie to be ideal in every way and I 1 can see no reason why vou have some of the best fishing in the state commissioner madsen is greatly pleased with the prolific increase of channel catfish m the Colora donver s a result of the planting of a small number of these fish in the river six years ago he declared that the nver i row stocked with channel cats for all time to come and these game fish should provide some wonderful sport from now on |
