Show six dome gusher again on wild rampage r cy c y y THAT HAD BEEN PUMPED IN control installed and pumping of mud resumed equipment arriving for second well the midwest utah southern gusher on the big six dome nine miles southwest of moab on the colorado nver broke loose again anday night shooting oil and mud high above the derrick and undoing everything that had been accomplished since december 8 to bang the well under control all of the mud that had been pumped into the hole was forced out between the ten inch and twelve inch casing and the oil flowed from between the pipe in a steady stream the blow came just when it was thought the well was being brought under control and was another indication of the vast oil and gas pressure coming from the oil sand which was scratched by the drill on th morning of december 8 A Branden head control which bad just arrived fit camp was this week installed by field superintendent C A smith and his drilling crew this control connects the ten inch and twelve inch casing and prevents any further waste of oil and pressure from between the two strings of pip the installation of the was completed monday night and the well is now completely capped with a control head on top of the ten inch and the capping the opening between the ten and twelve pumping of mud into the well was resumed tuesday rooming in a renewed attempt to mud off the oil flow yesterday superintendent smith reported that the pressure had been reduced to less than pounds and he is hopeful that the pressure will be completely budded mudded off within a few days if the mud fails to do the work it will then be necessary to ship in a large quantity of oxide of iron a heavy material widely used in many oil fields in controlling large oil and gas bushers gushers bringing the well under control is proving a most difficult undertaking and some time may elapse before it is finally accomplished the fact that the oil and gas pressure has not diminished in the slightest degree since the well blew in over a month ago conclusively proves one thing that the oil is coming from a mother sand and that the flow will prove to be considerably in excess of 1000 barrels daily and probably as high as barrels after the oil 19 budded mudded off the well will be under reamed for a distance ot about 40 feet which will enable the drillars drillers dr illers to set the casing on the cap rock where it will be cemented in the oil sand will then be opened up and test of the flow made nals for second rag here well no 2 will be studded in just as rapidly as the ng can be transported to the location and erected one carload of equipment for the second rig arrived at thompsons Thomp sons tuesday Tue iday and 13 being transported to the moab garage companas comp anys loading pier the equipment will be moved down nver within the next two or three days well no 2 will be located on the shafer structure about seven miles by nver below shafer well no 1 R C coffin head geologist for the midwest refining company arrived in moab monday evening and left the next morning for the shafer structure to spot the well it will be located on top of the structure about a quarter of a mile from the river A natural wharf consisting of a rock ledge rising from the water will make it unnecessary to erect a pier on the nver about a quarter of mile of railroad track will be laid to connect the wharf with the to facilitate the moving of equipment from the boat to loca tion all of the equipment for the second ng and camp will arrive at thompsons Thomp sons during the next ten days and will aggregate about eight carloads it will be brought to moab as fast as it reaches thompsons Thomp sons no lime will be lost in getting a camp established on the shafer structure and the second drilling crew should arrive within the next two weeks superintendent C A smith will have charge of both camps the third well will be located on the big six dome about three quarters of a mile above no 1 and will be studded in as soon as no 1 is completed this location can be reached from camp no 1 and much of the equipment used in drilling the first well will be moved to the no 3
