NIGHT FIRE THREATENS two BUSINESS HOSES moab experienced a fire scare monday da V night when a stable in the beur of he the pe terson feed store was discovered covered to be in flames names by the time it 4 force of fire fighter td t ers were on the scene the blaze had been fanned into A 4 veritable furnace aad foe for a time it appeared almost certain that the fire lire would spread to the williams hard ware store and tho the peterson feed tore store located only a short distance from the blazing stable A high wind from the south however helped to keep the blaze from spreading to wards the two business houses and by heroic work on the yort part of the volunteer firemen the flames names were confined to the stable with the result hat that only slight damage was done the fire wag was discovered about 10 30 monday 11 anday and the alarm was given A large force of men was soon on the scene and by means of a bucket brigade and a large hose at jached to the city water system effect tive work at extinguishing the incipient fire was soon under way for a it time it appeared certain that the old jail building now owned by dr J W williams and used as a ware wore house would catch on fire but the firefighters fire firc fighters were able to prevent this the wind which came from the south helped in keeping the vw blaze from spreading had the wind been cornin effig from the north the entire group of buildings would undoubtedly have been dest destroyed roved the fire is thoua thought ht to have started from rom sparks coming from the chimney of the peterson Pc terson home adjoining the feed store
