every- where out here from the Mississippi to the Pacific I have seen most of ot tile the girls girl riding astride and most of ot the grownup women I must say I think It very much better for the whether you like the side aide saddle or not It was very interesting going through New Mexico l and seeing the strange old civilization of the desert and next day the Grand canyon of Arizona wonderful wonderful wonderful won won- and beautiful beyond description tion I could have sat and looked at it for days It is a tremendous chasm a amile amile amile mile deep and several miles wide the cliffs carved into battlements amphitheatres amphitheatres theatres towers lowers and pinnacles and the coloring wonderful red and yellow and gray and green Then we went through the desert passed across the Sierras and came into this semitropical country country country coun coun- try of southern California with palms and orange groves groies and olive orchards orchard and immense quantities of flowers write me that letter together I wish y you u could have been with me today on Algonquin for forve we ve had a perfectly lovely ride Dr Ui ey and I were on two very verv handsome horses horles with and right between two of the rocks where I really did not see how anything could swim a seal appeared and stood up upon upon upon on his tall tail half halt out of ot the foaming water water wa- wa j Bill Dm the Lizard aid lie He is a a little live lizard called a horned frog very cunning who lives in a small box The little badger Josh is very well wen and eat eats milk and potatoes We Ve took him
