| Show L O i iTHE THE TIN AND WOODEN S SOLDIERS The little wooden soldiers soldiers' had al always always always al- al ways been the playroom guard and no noone noone noone one thought of disputing ii their rights or bravery They were the only soldiers In the playroom and there was no one Ona to question them but when one day a box arr arrived ved and a a. dozen or or more big brightly painted tin Un soldiers were taken take out and stood tip up up in ina in-a a row it was then the trouble began The The first night when the clock struck the maglo hour the tho little wooden soldiers began their march around the playroom Thump I thump I went their little wooden feet and all aU the tho toys stood looking with admiring eyes Then Then suddenly suddenly rattle rattle I rattle came a a. sound from the other side of the room ro-om and when the toys looked there were the big new soldierS soldierS' marching toward toward the little lt le wooden soldiers facing facIng facing fac fac- ing th them m. m Halt cried the big tin captain Advance cel cried the little wooden captain and then such a battle was never before seen in the playroom The ho toys were In a a. terrible panic I running back and forth to take care of ot the wounded until daylight came And every night after atter the tin soldiers came there ther to live Uve the playroom knew no more jolly times for whenever the little wooden soldiers began to mart march marcA the tin soldiers told them to Halt and then the war began bean Teddy Bear and Miss Dolly Doll to say nothing nothing- of all the other toys wondered wondered wondered won won- dered what would become of ot them It if something did not happen to put a a. stop to these nightly battles One day the tho tin and wooden soldiers were taken out in the yard and when night came they did not return When the clock in the hall struck 12 Teddy Bear and Miss Dolly looked at each other but they did not speak They looked very sad What do you think has hu happened 7 asked Dolly at last I 1 ex expect there thera has been a terrible battle said Teddy I 1 am afraid they all have been broken It was several days before the soldiers soldiers sol sol- diers diere were brought back and oh such sucha a sad looking lot as they were Not the little wooden ones O 0 O.
