Show FRIDAY, PAGE SIX THE BINGHAM BULLETIN. BINGHAM CANYON. UTAH Progressive Business Men and Civic-Mind- ed Citizens of Salt Lake City ' This department has been worked up as a reflection of public opinion. No man has written of himself or his business, all articles having been compiled by a Bulletin representative as he saw conditions. These men are all leaders in their lines of endeavor, and the cooperation of those citizens of Salt Lake City who helped to make this department possible is sincerely appreciated by the publishers of the Bingham Bulletin. Douglas H. Brown has, by the of his business and his attention to civic affairs, earned the friendship and good ,w U of citizens. He is to 'be SmpUmented for his activit eS and we only express the desire of h many friends and associ-ates in wishing him continued success. GEORGE E. CAIRO It is because of the unfailing optimism and faith which he so consistently disp ays toward the future of Salt Lake City and vie-ini- ty that we are prompted to call the particular attention of our readers to the fine service which Mr. George E. Cairo of the Beehive Confectionery, performs in the successful conduct of his business. Mr Cairo is a resourceful and aggressive personality whose pro-gressive policies have earned for him a widespread reputation as a business man of more than av-erage ability; and his apparent willingness to devote some of that ability to the promotion of' civic activities further enhances his value to the city. . The reputation of the Beehive Confectionery reflecting, as it does, the honesty and ability of this man, has gained for the firm a well deserved popularity the people they serve. We are glad to give George Cairo the credit he so well deserves for his achievements and to wish for him a continued successful ca-reer as one of Salt Lake City's more progressive business men. I CLARK BURNH AM It is a privilege in this Salt Lake City review of progressive men and firms that have been a great aid to the growth and de-velopment of this section of the state to place such a man as Mr. Clark Burnham, the executive head of the wholesale flower firm of Burnham's Flowers Inc., on an equal plane with all others in this rank. In the past, few men have exceeded him in contribut-ing of their time and energy to the onward progress of Salt Lake City and the surrounding coun-try. Mr. Burnham for many years recognized as one of the more progressive wholesale flower dealers of the Salt Lake area, still, retains that distinction in the admiration and respect of his wide circle of friends. Also his interest in and the valuable assistance he has rendered to many projects of a civic nature reflect the principles which he has always so successfully ap-plied to his business affairs. We congratulate Clark Burn-ham on his record, and sincerely hope that his career will be as useful and completely successful in the years ahead as it has been in the past. O HAROLD C. MALLDER CHARLES I. ROWSER One of the more progressive business men of Salt Lake City i and a man who deserves the re- - ' spect and good will of a great many residents of the city, is capable, friendly Charles I. Row-se- r, of the C & E Tire Service Co., whose wide knowledge and long experience in the tire busi- - ness has raised him to a position of prominence in his line. It is because of this that the C & E Tire Service Co., has earned a reputation for reliability sec- - ond to none. Mr. Rowser is also civic-minde- d and has always been ready to ' contribute his time and energy to any plan which promises to benefit the entire district. And the people of Salt Lake City may regard with particular satisfac-tion the many services which he has performed for the commu-nity in the interest of progress and civic betterment. We urge our readers to look to Charles Rowser as a progressive business man of whom we may well be proud. His devotion to his city has been constant and his achievements well merited. We wish for him further success. o BOND GOLDSON R. M. DALTON Every progressive, successful business man in Salt Lake City contributes in some manner to the growth and progress of the city. And a man who is always willing to do his bit in both busi-ness and civic activities i3 Mr. R. M. Dalton of the Butaun Com-pany Inc., who is well known and has many friends and contacts throughout this entire district. The prominent part that the Butaun Company Inc., is playing in the business and civic life of Salt Lake City and vicinity mir-rors the progressiveness and ability of such men as he. He has . also at all times been steadfast in his devotion to the city and the surrounding country and on many occasions has lent his sup-port to the successful promotion of meritorous civic projects. Salt Lake City and this dis-trict are fortunate to have such men as Mr. R. M. Dalton in a position of responsibility and service and this newspaper is merely reflecting public opinion in paying this brief tribute to one of the city's more progress-ive business men. .i O FREELAND T. BOISE Having a well earned reputa-tion for honesty, dependable judgment and a knowledge of the investment business far above the average, Mr. Freeland T. Boise, executive head of the in-vestment firm" of F. T. Boise Co., merits a brief tribute in this Salt Lake City review. Without assumption, Without seeking public acclaim, he has for years filled his place in the community as one of its solid citizens, performing his duties of citizenship quietly, yet efficient-ly. As a leading and progressive business man, Mr. Boise nolds a high position in the esteem of the public generally. We desire to add our personal tribute and to make this public statement praising him for his many con-tributions to the welfare of Salt Lake City and vicinity. It is not only as a practical executive whose sound judgment and farsighted planning have brought such fine things to him-self, but it is because of his in-spiring optimism and loyal friendship that Freeland Boise isj held in such high regard by the! people of this district. We gladly praise the record of this progres-sive Salt Lake City business man. O R. E. "BOB" and HAL CAMERON Salt Lake City owes much to those progressive citizens wno have taken an active part in the growth and progress of the city and who have helped to make it the business center for this part of the state. In mentioning some of these men it is only fair to in-clude Messers. R. E. "Bob and Hal Cameron, owners and opera-tors of Cameron's Battery & Generator Exchange, whose out-standing knowledge of the bat-tery and generator business, backed up by their many years of experience, has brought them to the forefront in their particu-lar field. . They deserve a great deal or credit for their success in both business and civic activities. Their main interests have always been devoted to the welfare and building up of a greater Salt Lake City and they have contri-buted more than their share to-wards that end. The Camerons are wholly de-serving of our sincere praise and these few words of commenda-tion are but a just recognition for the many activities they have conducted on behalf of the gen-eral welfare of the community. We trust Bob and Hal Cameron shall continue to serve Salt Lake City and vicinity for many years. O G. C. and R. A. CAMPBELL and RANNY OMOHUNDRO There a number of business and professional men in Salt Lake City who have gained recognition for their progressiveness and three men who belong in this category are Messers G. C. and R. A. Campbell, and Ranny Omohundro, the executive heads of the engineering firm of Camp-bell-Else- y Company. These men are well established in the forefront of the business and civic life of their city. They are agressive individuals, yet whose genial personalities have earned for them the respect and good will of the many men and lirms with whom they do busi-ness. The ethical manner in which they have conducted their business affairs is but just one of the reasons for their outstanding success. And aside from their business activities they have also accepted their share of respon-sibility in aiding civic projects. As a result of the combined efforts of men like the Camp-bells and Mr. Omohundro, Salt Lake established WALTER BYRNE K SaTt Lake City, Mr Walter By"ne of the Byrne Jewelry Co, for the performs a real, service of his city and this dis-fri- ct and his many contributions to civic betterment are too well known to require repetition in These columns. His personal sue-ce- ss has been turned to the ad-vantage of his fellow citizens and he is always ready to assist any enterprise which promises to ad-vance the welfare of the commu- - "'mt Byrne Is deserving of praise and this small tribute is but a just recognition for the many services which he has performed in the way of both business and civic activities. His reputation for the successful conduct of his business affairs is no greater than his reputation for the honest practices which characterize his every transaction. We congratulate Walter Byrne on his splendid record and trust that he shall continue to serve the people of Salt Lake City and vicinity. o JOHN VALLACE It is appropriate that we in-clude in this review of. progres-sive Salt Lake City business men Mr. John Vallace, the owner of the Acme Sand & Gravel Co.. He not -- only has the reputation of being progressive but also the added one of being a willing sup-porter of many community af-fairs. Aside from his business activi-ties Mr. Vallace has always shown an interest in the civic betterment and progress of his city and has backed up his in-terest by his contributions to manv projects which have bene-fitted the city and the surround-ing area. He is a pood and loyal citizen and the full measure of his loyalty is most apparent be-cause of his willingness to aid community activities. His help along these lines has made of John Vallace a fine ex-- I ample of the type of man we all appreciate. We congratulate and extend to him, on behalf of all citizens interested in better busi-ness and civic progress sincere appreciation for his contributions to the general welfare of Salt Lake City and ovicinity. FLOYD BUETER Mr. Floyd Bueter, owner and operator of the Beehive Cleaning Co. has a thorough knowledge of the cleaning business, and a well earned reputation for grogress-ivenes- s because he has "consist-ently forged ahead in his busi-ness, never letting up in his ef-forts to make the service his company renders to the people more valuable. This invariable policy has made the Beehive Cleaning Co., outstanding in its field, a fact that is well known to the public in the Salt Lake City area. But Mr. Bueter has accomp-lished much more than just mak-ing a success of his business and private affairs and we take this opportunity to pay tribute to him for devoting what time he could spare to the general welfare, not only of his city but of this entire district as well. It is such men as he who are both successful in business and appreciative of their civic obli-gations that are deserving of rec-ognition. We take pleasure in publicly giving Floyd Bueter the credit for his accomplishments which his friends and associates have so long accorded him. GRANT ALLYN CAPRONI There are many men in their chosen fields who have gained recognition for the progressive manner in which they have con- ducted their business and accept- ed their civic responsibilities but who will not permit much to be said of their achievements. It is however, public property every time a man reaches a position in any community where he is gen- eral y recognized as a leader in his line. In reviewing a group of such citizens ve must include Mr. Grant Allyn Caproni, a promin- ent civil engineer, and a man who has always dons hie ,,i. We desire in this Salt Lake City review to call the attention of our readers to the well-earn- ed position which Mr. Harold C. Mallder who succeeded V. E. "Pete" Lyman as sales mgr. of the Bearings Service & Supply Co., has reached in the business life of this section. During the comparatively short time he ha3 been the manager in Salt Lake i City of the firm he has made many personal friends as well as a host of new friends and con-tacts for his company. - Mr. Mallder has worked hard to deserve the confidence which the people of the community have in him and he continues to work hard to maintain, in every way, that high standard which he has set, not only for himself but for the operation of his com-pany as well. He has also shown a willing-ness to assist in every manner at his disposal in the growth and development of the city and is always ready and willing to lend his support to community pro-jects. Harold Mallder deserves our-- heartiest congratulations on the splendid record he has al-ready established and we sin- - cerely hope for his continued The true value of a citizen is not gauged by his or her personal success. But rather by the man-ner in which they share that success by their contributions to the community in which they live. A city grows and flourishes according to the number of pub-lic spirited citizens who compose its population. Mr. Bond Goldson, of the Bond Cleaning & Tailoring Co, is one of those men who has given much toward the development of Salt Lake City and its environs. He has turned his personal success in the business field to the ad-vantage of the people as a whole and has accomplished much to-wards making his city a better place in which to live. Mr. Goldson's thorough knowl-edge of every phase of the clean-ing and Tailoring business has raised him to a position of lead-ership in his field of activities and gained for him recognition as one of the city's more progres-sive business men. We compli-ment Bond Goldson in this Salt Lake City review and wish to offer him this small evidence of public esteem. ILL. PROCTOR Salt Lake City has attained a prominent position in the busi-ness life of this section of the state because of the foresight of those men who had the ability to envision the possibilities of the community and the trade area it serves. And a wide-awak- e progressive man who justly should be included in this cate-- : gory is Mr. H. L. Proctor of the Century Manufacturing Co, ma-- j kers of show cases. Such men have, many times over, proven their worth to the community both as business men and as active workers in the civic betterment and progress of the city. Mr. Proctor has earned the good will and respect of his fel-low citizens for contributing his bit to the general welfare of the city and the people as a whole. It is our duty to include H. L. Proctor in that group of progres-sive and civic-minde- d people who have done so much for Salt Lake City and to express the wish that he will continue for many years to forge ahead with the success which he has enjoyed in the past. CLINTON B. AVERETT We wish in this edition to pay tribute to Mr. Clinton B. Averett of the firm of Averett Sons Co, makers and dealers in storm win-dows, for his many services to Salt Lake City and his splendid record of achievement in the business life of the city. Mr. Averett probably has as wide a circle of friends as any other man we could name be-cause he is just naturally the kind of a man who makes friends with almost everybody and is at pains to conduct himself in such a manner as to deserve the re-spect and good will of all who know him. A city is fortunate in being able to number among its more progressive citizens busi-ness men of this type. He is also always ready and willing to lend his support to the promotion of any project which promises to benefit this entire cl He may be depended upon and his services to the peo-ple are too many in number to be described here. Campbell and Ranny Omo-hundro for their success in busi-ness and public affairs and trust they will continue for many years to enjoy that success which they have so justly earned. O DARREL W. and FRANK M. LEE In every community there are a number of citizens who can be pointed out as having taken a three-fol- d part in the onward progress of their city. Two well-know- n business men of Salt Lake City who belong in this category are Messers. Darrel W. and iTank M. Lee of the Bogue Supply Co, dealers in mining supplies. Their leadership in their line of business is recognized through-out this mining area. And their furtherance of civic activities and support of those organizations, whose main objectives are direct-ed along lines of civic betterment is well known to their immediate associates. The Lees are men who are equally liked and respected by their intimate friends, and their associates. They are loyal to the community, thankful for their'1 success in business and have ' shown their appreciation by their pnntrihiitinna tn varinna rmip success. O JAMES B. REED When a man gains recognition in the business and civic life of his city for the progressive and straightforward manner in which he has managed his business af-fairs, he is to be complimented for his achievements. And in this instance the man we have in mind is also deserving of praise for his contributions to the growth and progress of hi3 city. We re-fer to Air. James B. Reed, execu-tive head of the Capitol Cleaners & Dyers. Ho has long experience in his field of endeavor and is a progressive and civic - minded business man who is regarded with respect and admiration by a freat many residents of Salt City and the surrounding country. Mr. Reed can always be in-cluded in that group of men who are ever ready to devote a part of their time and energy to the development of their home town. It is because of the efforts of such men that, year after year, Salt Lake City continues to grow and prosper and to become an even better place in which to live. It is men like James B. Reed who have a distinct value to their city and we take pleasure in pay-ing this brief but sincere tribute to him for his arccomplishments. RALPH M. and DAGMAR C. BUTLER Ralph M. and Dagmar Butler, owners and operators of the But-ler Cleaning Co, have a thorough knowledge of the cleaning busi-ness and are two of those pro-gressive type of citizens upon whom the community depends a great deal for leadership in busi-ness and other matters. They have, in the past, and no doubt will continue in the future, to give more than their share of time and energy for the welfare of others than themselves. They are the kind of people who make friends, and friendships once formed by them are never broken by an unfriendly act on their part; and they spare no effort in order that their services to the people of the community shall be dependable. The Butlers have never been known to inject themselves into a situation for the mere purpose of gaining publicity. However, they proceed in a calm, unosten-tatious manner, and accomplish their objectives with a quiet dignity. We .do not hesitate to recom-mend Ralph and Dagmar Butler to our friends as good examples of the more progressive type of business people who have aided in the growth and development of Salt Lake City and the sur-rounding countryo. SOL POMERANCE To those progressive business men who have also taken a part in civic affairs we owe a debt of gratitude that we find difficult to pay. However we can do so in part by publicly acknowledg-ing their many services and we take this opportunity to pay. ' a brief tribute to Mr. Sol Pomer-anc- e who has had long experi-ence in the wearing apparrel business and is owner of Soils Clothes Shop and the Capitol Clothiers. In doing so we express the sentiment and feelings of not only the community but also of those people who have been ac-tively associated with him in business or civic affairs. Mr. Pomerance's time is al-most wholly occupied by his own affairs. Yet there has never been an occasion when he has been called upon by the people of Salt Lake City and vicinity to assist some civic project that he has not responded and helped to the fullest extent of his ability to further that project. Thus he has frequently sacrificed his personal interests to promote some worthy cause. Because of this Sol Pomerance has proven himself to be a good citizen of whom his city and this district have every reason to feel justly proud. o businesses, have caused the pub- - over and above the average Such a man is Mr. Norman G Bemdt who is a well known Jewelernd owner and operator of SS2yiifendiame- - ,Mr Be'ndh fairs hS0m(J?s,and Pvate ohnrinleVnClUded hia C. E. BURR In paying tribute to some of the more progressive business and professional men of Salt Lake City we could be remiss in our duty should we fail to include Mr. C. E. Burr, owner and oper-ator of the Burr Auto Repair Shop, whose business ability is no greater than the "Know-how- " and mechanical skill which has contributed to his well-earne- d success. He is a man who has contribut-ed generously to the welfare of DEAN ANDRUS and DEE WHITING Salt Lake City has assumed its place of importance in the state because of the efforts of the far-seei-business and professional men who have developed the na-tural resources, or in some man-ner extended the trade advant-ages, of the locality. Two of the men who have taken important parts in many progressive move-ments are Dean Andrus and Dee Whiting, the executive, heads of the painting contracting firm of Andr.us-Whitin- g Co. Andrus and Whiting have de- - movements of benefit to the city. O WALTER M. JONES One of the better informed in-surance men of Salt Lake City is Mr. Walter M. Jones, district mgr. of the Business Men's As-surance Co. Mr. Jones has been performing an essential service for the peo-ple of this district over a period of time and during that time he has made a great many friends both for himself and the Business Men's Assurance Co. He has contributed consider-ably of his time and energy to the growth and progress of Sah Lake City and this district and has been content to take his re-ward in the quiet knowledge of a work well done and the respect and admiration of his many friends. The value of such a man to his city and the surrounding terri-tory cannot be over estimated. His willingness to perform in the interest of the people as a whole is one of his most admirable characteristics and he has often made personal sacrifices in order to contribute to the general wel-fare. We congratulate Walter M. Jones on his splendid reputation and wish for him a continued successful career as a leader in the insurance field in his district effectively even though it has been accomplished in an unob- trusive manner. Mr. Caproni, busy as he is al-ways manages somehow or other to do his bit in any calculated to benefit the conS nity as a whole. His modesty say the things about himself which are said by his friends who would also tell you professional conduct is a "redU to his high sense of honor. DOUGLAS iTbrown In mentioning some of those men who are taking a progres- sive part m the evolution of the business and civic life of Salt Lake City we would be censored if we failed to include Mr Doug- las H. Brown of the Capitol Glass Mr. Brown is that solid type of citizen whose fairness and friend- liness and sincere desire to be of service are accountable for a large measure of his success As time goes on his personal inter- ests have become more closelv interwoven with the business and civic affairs of the city. As a result he has, quite naturally be- come accepted as a man who can be called upon and who will cheerfully do his part to further the development of those com-munity activities to which he is best fitted to lend assistance MRS. DIAMOND ANGELO and FRANK JAMES, FRANCIS Progressiveness, coupled with ability, always a praiseworthy feature in the passing scene of any community's daily life, is to be duly appreciated. In full reali-zation of this and in recognition of the splendid personality which gives impetus to the personal success in her case, many resi-dents of Salt Lake City and our own community, regard Mrs. Diamond Angelo and Mr. Frank James, Francis, of Angelo's Res-taurant, as connoisseurs of good food and true assets to their city and this district. Mr. Francis and Mrs. Angelo are keeping their cafe at the forefront at all times both in business and civic activities and have maintained positions of leadership in their field of en-deavor. Capable and energetic in the management of the business they have come to be recognized as two of the city's more 'pro-gressive business people. The .splendid food and service supplied to the public by Frank James Francis and Mrs. Angelo, and Angelo's Restaurant in the past is the best indication of what may be expected of them in the future. They have our ad-miration and best wishes for continued success. his city and the community for many miles around. His civic spirit is evidenced by the many services which he has performed and continues to perform in the interest of the people as a whole. No worthwhile enterprise which promises to benefit the commu-nity escapes his attention. C. E. Burr is a man of wide acquaintance whose many friends admire and respect in him those virtues which inspire confidence and promote good feeling. His upright business methods are a credit to his inherent sense of fair play. A community is fortun-ate to number among its citizens a man of this type. We congratulate Mr. Burr on his splendid record of service and trust he shall continue to assist us for many years to come. voted a great deal of their time and energy to the growth and development of their city and this district and it is fitting at this time that we attempt to ex-press in some small way our ap-preciation for their unselfish contributions to the general wel-fare of the community. Their many friends admire and respect in them those virtues which promote confidence and inspire good will. Their upright business methods are but an out-ward reflection of their inherent appreciation for fair practices.
