March, the month of squalls, blustery wind and a portent of wild weather, poked it's nost meekly around the corner the other day to remind us of the old adage, "In like a lamb, out hke a lion!" Like many other things now days, the weather is subject to change without notice, but we will be satisfied if the lamb just continues his parade ever so meekly. Besides the unpredictable weather, wea-ther, March brings an end to our high school basketball campaign. The prep leaders from all over the state finish their quest for league and division flags, and wind up the court scramble in the state meets. Our local prep hoopsters, after their final league game tonight at Murray, will call a halt until another season. As usual, Bingham's youngsters young-sters gave a fine account of their ability and sportsmanship, and although not winning the race for a championship, the Bingham boys and girls gained the greater value of deportment and true sports competitiveness. Meeting Monday, March 14 The regular meeting of the BDAA board of governors will be held Monday, March 14 at the City hall. As the membership roll starts filling up again and new members join the ranks of the BDAA, spring activities start gaining new interests. Soon our softball and baseball activities will be underway and there's no time ike the present to start getting get-ting organized. Any member with new plans of active sports interest inter-est is urged to attend our next meeting. Let's get the ball rolling right away. ALLEY ANGLES Bingham Takes Shellacking-Seems Shellacking-Seems like every time the BDAA keglers lose a match in the Major Traveling league, they make their opponents put on a big league performance. Last week the locals lost three games to Western Optical Co. as the opticians fired a 3019 series. Kyle Coles blasted out a 716 total to-tal to lead the red hot bifocal crew. Al Ablett led the locals in another 2800 series. If the Bingham Bing-ham keglers don't win, they sure as shootin' make the other guys really roll 'em. In the Major doubles circuit, the four Bingham bowlers amassed amas-sed a 2559 total for 12 games. Al Ablett and partner F. Zaccaria, won three of four from Dave Chipman and Ray Mantyla with a 1307 score. Al had 659, Zac 648, as Bill Ablett and J. Abplanalp lost three despite Bill's 630 and his partner's 622. The Gemmell crew split a double header at Southeast, winning win-ning three of four from Scott Investment In-vestment and losing three to team No. 2. Paul Slotte, with near 600 in both sessions, topped the club- roThe Gemmell keglers have another an-other postponed match to roll this week, and hope to stay in the running for the classic trophy. |
