G Paul and Inspector Iler r of the county health department made a thorough inspection tion of the canyon yesterday esterday and found conditions prevailing about the horse camp in South Fork The Tho Cardiff mine is located at the head of South Fork and fully tons of ore are hauled daily dally to the ore bins below where it Is loaded on tractors The South Fork stream make makes up a alar lar large e part of the Cottonwood stream stream Throughout the fork the road was found to be in a very poor condition I due to the heavy ore wagons and the dust was fully six inches deep In places It is impassable for tor an automobile Near the mouth of the fork the horse camp Is located and the horses are led to the creek to drink These conditions conditions condi condl- Dr Paul believes are the chief sources of the contamination of the city water While the exact result of ot the tho Investigation Investigation Investigation will depend materially on the tests of water samples taken above and below the camp and above and below the point where the South Fork stream empties into Cottonwood stream the county plans to take drastIc drastic drastic dras dras- tic action to improve these conditions In other parts of the canyon and at Brighton conditions were found to be much Improved At Brighton several barns which were formerly situated on the banks of the stream have been moved to Insure the stream against pollution Only one barn that of Moyle brothers remains on the banks of the creek and notice for the tho re removal removal re- re moval of ot this his ba barn n was served on the owners |
