C Heikes of the geological geological geo geo- logical survey surey gives the following account account account ac ac- ac- ac count of the Lake View mine Prospecting in the range up to the of ot visit had been largely confined to two localities both near the southwest south- south west wed Wet side aide of the Ule promontory There has a been some prospecting of copper deposits in the quartzite seri series R on the west side of the promontory about one and one one- half hal miles mies northwest of Saline ove ovet a a. I period of several years In 1907 fourteens fourteen tons s of hand sorted o ore averaging hg n g g uv per c cent t copper e and one ounce Jg silver e to the ton was wa shipped The present ac actiVity activity ac- ac is i confined d largely to the zinc lead deposits deposit The history of these deposits Is given b by Mr Arentz as follows For several years ears previous previous' to 1915 a a coterie of Ogden men headed by James Lorenzo Farr John Farand Farrand Farr Far Farrand and Mr Carlson held two groups of placer claims covering a a bed of marbleized limestone and also ailo a n large portion porton of ol what Is now the Lake View Mining company's company's com corn pany's property This placer property was waR held by loaton location over a period ol ot some sonic five years the am amount of work done was almost negligible December 1914 several men headed by I. I F. F Farr Fair were employed ed to work on this placer property on the marble outcrop about one mile mie north of the Judge Henderson wheat field feld During and Sundays the workmen walked up the wash to the limestone beds outcropping above Bowl Bowl- ders of zinc lead-zinc carbonate were dIscovered discovered discovered ered in the talus and traced to the outcrop outcrop out out- crop of ore In place found at the top of the foot bed of limestone forming the so called middle bed In contact with shale Four locations were then made by Charles Johnson I. I F. F Farr Parr and Lorenzo Lorenzo Lorenzo Lo Lo- Lo- Lo renzo Farr Far Charles Johnson sold out his Interest to P. P A. A A Mattson who was then superintendent of the Henderson ranch A A. few tew holes were dug on the outcrop by these men Early Earlyn in January Januar I II Earlyn W. W A.
