J Callaghan United States service operative assi assisted ted by Deputy Sheriff C Carl rl Carstenson last night arrest ax ar- rest rested d twp men whom they believe t to tobe tol be those who have hav been deluging S Salt lt Lake with th counterfeit dollars the past ten days The anest arrest was made in a little brIcK brIcKhouse brickhouse house in the rear of ot West Third d South street where the two men were Jiving and from which Callaghan he- he the counterfeit dollars were first firs passed out The men gave their names as Frank Fran Critchlow and James The arrest was accomplished easily both men being found at the house and neither offering any resistance One of the men was taken uptown by Callaghan and Carstenson Carstens on and was taken into a Main street store The storekeeper identified him as s one who had passed a bogus bogus dollar on h him m last week The counterfeits were of ot clumsy SY workmanship They had bad no ring ng t to to- them and the figures stamped on them were so to poor that no expert was needed need need- needy ed to see that they were ph phony nf Street cars and Main street stores were worked by the men whom Gallaghan Galla ghan belll believes ves to be the counterfeiters Several street car conductors acceptIng accepting accept accept- ing leg the bogus dollars were forced to tomake tomako make mako t them tiem em good out of their own pockets The arrests came after sey se eral days of close Investigation Uon by the secret service agent Both men are locked up in hi the county jail and will willbe willbe willbe be held for trial by the federal court |
