I RULES GOVERNING WRITING OF PLAYS Rules to govern the la writing contest to be conducted by Ernest Wilkes for the benefit of ambitious Salt Lake writers have Just jUit bet been n announced Th The plays may be drama comedy or melodrama the only demand being that thet they they-be be clean and wholesome The rules follow The play may be a drama comedy comedy comedy com com- edy drama melodrama romance ro romantic romantic ro romantic ro- ro mantic drama tragedy or melodramatic matic farce the only restriction being being be be- ing that it be clean and wholesome All AlI plays must be bein in the th hands of the board of judges not later than Monday December 6 The winner to be announced December 12 Only original plays will be consid consid- ered Borrowed material or any form of plagiarism will be barred A play may have n no less ess than three nor more than four acts The cast must not exceed fourteen fourteen four four- teen speaking characters nor contain contain con con- tam tain less than six The authors author's name must not be written on the script but must with his or her address be contained in ina a sealed envelope attached to the thelast thelast thelast last page page- of the script All scripts must be typewritten on regular manuscript size paper measuring measuring measuring mea mea- suring inches on one side only It must be a play suitable for forstock forstock forstock stock production I It should run about two hours and thirty minutes as nearly as you can Judge All manuscripts must be mailed to the contest department Empress theatre
