Show Intake of Mine Important as Output Much Muut Go Into Ground if Ore la to Come Out. Due to the general concern over what comes out of a mine, it is not generally realized what goes Into the underground to keep a mining property in operation. The amount of timber "planted" underground each year in Utah's mines would make a fair lized forest, and it U estimated that supplies sup-plies amounting to $50,000 per day are consumed by the state'a mines. Ten million pounds of blasting powder are consumed each year and the powder is manufactured within the state. Power consumed is about half the load of that produced pro-duced by the power companies. Virtually all of the supplies and equipment used by the mining industry in-dustry is either grown or manufactured manu-factured or bought in Utah. It is estimated that about one-third of the agricultural production of the state is consumed by the mining industry. |
