Gaul's cantata Joan of ot Arc by a chorus of ot approximately 2000 voices selected from the junior an and senior high schools of Salt Lake Preparations for tor the event are ar being made under the direction ofF of P. P Melvin Pe Peterson erson superintendent of music In the public schools of ot the city who has already worked for several I months with the boys and girls and Intends to carry on regular rehearsals up to the moment when the cantata Is presented The next rehearsal will wUl be held at the Assembly hall ball in the Temple grounds next T Tuesday morning at o'clock and Mr Peterson has sent out an urgent appeal to all parents to se see see that the boys and girls attend the rehearsals regularly Upon the amount of ot cooperation which 5 we receive from the parents wilt will depend the success or the failure of ot the event said M Me Peterson to today I appeal appeal appeal ap ap- ap- ap peal to the parents for assistance in this as a matter of ot civic pride on their part If they see to It that the b and girls attend the r rehearsals regularly regularly- there willbe will willbe be no io doubt about the success success of the cantata The schools of this city bear beara a high high reputation with the educators who will attend the convention here in July and we cannot afford to to let Jet anything any any- thing which we do give an unfavorable Impression Mr Peterson eterson announced that he twill wm p pick ck the soloists for the cantata im im- mediately All of the soloists will be local musicians It was found impractical impractical impractical to select the soloists from the high school singers because the majority of ot them have voices which are not mature mature mature ma ma- ture enough to carry the parts The committee on music of ot the N.
