Show BMA. FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp A Bit O' Everything Who da thunk it? Last week we just casually mentioned a change in the weather and right away Old Sol started smilin' down. Yessir for several days now we have been forced to admit ad-mit that there was sure a lot of snow, and by golly in places now you can even see the ground. Well we've had a lot of snow, wind, sleet, fog and nearly every ev-ery faze of the winter calendar, but the last few days assures us of another near season of spring fever and the good old outdoor sports. Sure hope the balmy weather wea-ther stays a while. Can use a bit of the spring fever stuff, along with the chills. Last Home Game Tonight Our Bingham high school hoop-slers hoop-slers play hosts to the Grantsville Grants-ville Cowpokes tonight at 7 p.m. in their final home game. The local basketeers have had an up and down season so far, losing come close ones and winning some thrillers. Coach Allsop's charges have displayed a fine fpirit in every game, and the boys and coach alike deserve the splendid support the local fans have shown at all their games. We hope all BDAA members will continue to enjoy these fine school activities that have been made possible by the help and cooperation of the high school officials and our own organization. organiza-tion. Back In The Groove' As more go back to work every ev-ery day and the BDAA members begin showing up from the vanishing van-ishing snow drifts, your officers start thinking of more and better bet-ter activities that can soon be arranged. Our principle thought is of the 1949 baseball and soft-ball soft-ball season, but if possible other forms of sports and entertainment entertain-ment will surely be yours to enjoy en-joy and take part in. ALLEY ANGLES BDAA Defeats Venetians, Gemmell Loses lo Florists As the poet feller said, the BDAA keglers at last found the "open road" open and sailed right thru to the K-B lanes last week and snatched three games from the "Blind" men (Venetian Blind Co. that is) and then traveled the straight and narrow safely back home again. After losing the first game 965 to 987, the Travelers pounced on the Venetians to cop the next two and totals. Gemmell club, after two weeks of idleness due to a bit of snow on the highway, finally made it to Sugarhouse, but the boys found they should have stayed bt home. Seems like the south-side south-side bowlers thought the Gemmell Gem-mell crew were strangers, so proceeded to treat them in a rather unsociable manner, wai-ly's wai-ly's Flowers, led by Wayne Blood's 613 series took all four from Gemmell, as Joe Brisk with a 242 game and top series was the only loca to find the alleys. Chase Wins Round Robin Paul Chase, with an 4059 series ser-ies for the 20 games, became the 1949 Utah Round Robin champ in a torrid race that saw the lead change four times. Bill Ward, battling near the top every week, finished in sec-end sec-end spot. Bill Ablett, consistent local & artist, finished in seventh sev-enth position and several other locals managed to share in the prize money. I |
