Show OUR DEBUT I Delighted to know you MIss Public we have been anxious to meet you fur tor a long time and we feel deeply Indebted to The Telegram for Its presumption of our worth in presenting us to you However we know that little merit that the Red and Black school r it Is a recognition pot not of the paper may embody but ut a fit and well earned and long due recognition of all that our our colors stand tor for of the vital force which our high school radiates of West Vest Highs nIgh's achievements of her glories glori s her powers and her bejeweled history which mattes mait s her truly the alma mat mater r of many of our community's best citizens and even eyen of other schools Foremost in the tho fray ignorance she has been the bulwark of our civilization She has borne the brunt and sh she e continues to do and so w will ill continue It is In the West Vest where gleams gleams' the sun most brightly it Is westward whence stream the livid flames of red which light up the apPI approaching blackness ss blending Into dear old red and black I E And It Is for this rare privilege of bringing West Vest HIgh Highs High's s ancient and present and future glories so peculiarly hers home to you that we will try and express s our schools school's appreciation ion by giving of our best though limited abilities It I is a fine sense of gratification which overwhelms us in being able to utilize such an opportunity as a me means ns of pushing the Red and Blacks campaign for a new West High building so advantageously The West High school buildings are not only insufficient In quantity but In quality They have been condemned for years cars as firetraps and this condemnation was emphasized by Fire Chief B Bywater water when his opinions as to the campaign were solicited Eleven hundred lives are daily In danger To house students In portable garages Is inconceivable except to west skiers siders and inconsistent with our educational policies This movement originated four years ago but was interrupted by the the war but now that war Is no more that men need employment and need it badly and most of all that eleven hundreds s ot of lives are more valuable than nil all the cooped up dollars under the sun every West student dent knows this i if else We must have a proper building And we WILL VILL have a proper building because theres there's just enough of that which which characterized U.
