Ida., June 11 The horse known lo have been ridden by Hugh Whitney, who shot and killed J. R. Kidd, a conductor on the Oregon Short Line, three weeks ago, waa found dead two miles north of this place yesterday afternoon. The horse had been shot. The discovery was made by Jack Thlel. The horse and saddle were later identified aa the property which had been stolen by Whitney during the time thai ha waa making hia sensational escape es-cape from the officers. Opinions differ as to the reason for the sltootuia- of the horse. It Is believed by some that Whitney shot the horse and then made for the railroad trak. with the hope of catching a train and eec-aplnc from this section of the country. coun-try. Others hlleve that It Is the Intention In-tention of Whitney to steal another horse or else try to make the Journey on foot to Cokevtlle, Wj, where be has a number of friends. The surrounding country Is being core fully waK-hed for any trace of the bandit. But It Is fairly certain now tliat Whitney Whit-ney has made his escape from the wild country west of the Caribous that has been his haven for the past three weeks and that he may by this time be nun-rtrenw nun-rtrenw nf mile, away. |
