The gathering Is expected to be the most Important ever held by tha organisation, or-ganisation, and also ths largest since or-! or-! ganlsatlon. Tha miners' unions of Utah I hove affiliated with the American Federation Federa-tion of lahor. and are expected to have rlalaavtM ait atarrfon Among the matters to be taken up are the formation of a labor party In Utah, and definite efforts to secure labor legislation legis-lation of a beneficial character, and also to have present etete lawa enforced. Convict Con-vict labor will come up for discuss ton. The call for the convention was sent out hr H. K. Russell of Kalt lake City, sectary-treasurer of the I'tah federation. federa-tion. Discussing the probable program, Mr. Russell said today: "Many Important matters will be brought up for the consideration of the dclegatea. smong them being the matter of a state labor party. In which all the organised laboring men of I'tah can unite at the polls. The subject of convict labor will be acted on. aa the laboring men are very much opposed to the-uses to which , convicts have been put since the passage of the convict labor law by the laat legislature. legis-lature. "The state federation will take up the subject of leglslstlon, and If plans now maturing are carried out. there will be an active legislative committee or agent put n the flld to secure legislation favorable fa-vorable to the laboring class, and lo see that present lews are enforced.
