Show DIES AS RESULT OF ATTEMPT TO SWIM TO ANTELOPE ISLAND William J. Davis, St year old, died of heart fsilors at his room, 54 East First South street, last night st the result re-sult of (zhsuttion, esuted by hh attempt at-tempt t ewim from Saltair beach to Antelope inland yesterday afternoon. Davis want to th lake resort oa an early train yesterday afternoon, telling his friend that he would swim to An-telop An-telop island and return before sundown if it was ths last thing he ever did. The Croprietor of the rooming boos said ist night that Davis made an attempt several weeks ago to reach tho island, but was so exhausted that ho was compelled com-pelled to remain in bed a week. When Davis left th water yesterday afternoon he was so weak that his friends hsd to help him to his dressing room and afterward they nearly carried him to th train. aDvis was a nativ of Buffalo, N. T., and whan a young man attempted to swim th rapid below Niagara fallt and nearly loot hi life. He wat employed em-ployed in thi eity a a cook at th Lonvro. Th body is at th undertaking undertak-ing establishment of O'Donnell k Co., where it will be prepared for burial. |
