Levi closed a deal with the American Ameri-can Petroleum company whereby he is given ample means to sink several well on the properties owned by himself and associates. Home time ago Levi, Took and Gibbons put down a well on their ground out some distance from Grtjn River to a depth of about .VH feet. They penetrated the oil sands for distance of only about four feat and fot a fair amount of oil from this, hey are now going to move this rig ten miles to the west and prove up the wppoeite wide w then propeitj. J f they are successful in demo net rating the oil in this second well on a paying basis the plan will then be to pat down a number of wells at various places on the large holdings they possess and get some idea of the extent of the oil bearing bear-ing region in that field. The new well will be within twelve miles of Green River. The rig has a capacity of 20O0 feet and F. V7.Ne.wby, an expert driller, haa been sent on to take charge - of operations. Work is to be pushed to an early conclusion of results and a great many western people peo-ple will await the development with a great deal of interest. There has been a large oil seepage within a radius of several miles of Green River, which has been known to some of the first settlers for a number of years. Now that they are getting oil men with experience ex-perience In that field the prospects of getting a good supply for this country are better than ever before. |
