Secretary Ensign and his forces are also busy in the office, answering inquiries of all descriptions, with reference ref-erence to space, exhibits, prizes sod entries. en-tries. One of ths latest features is ths offering of-fering of sn exceptionally large and handsome silver eup, donated as a special spe-cial prite br the Boyd Park jewelry people, for ths county making ths larg est and most artistic display in the horticultural hor-ticultural building. The eup stands about two feet high, and is of beautiful design and workmanship. When any county has won the prize three times, ths eup becomes the property prop-erty of that county- With the permission granted to counties coun-ties by the recent legislature to spend money for advertising the resources of the county, and the value of publicity work at the state fair increasing year by year, as ths fame of the state fair grows and it becomes a permanent annual an-nual feature of the whole intermoun-tain intermoun-tain region, it is expected that the cup will not go to any county by default, but rather that there will be keen competition com-petition for it. The mere ritrht to have the picture of such a cup on its boost literature would be of immense advantage advan-tage to any county, as the attention of tbe homeseeker is more and more drawn to Utah and its many opportunities. Had Educational Value. In addition to this, there is the ad-csntsge ad-csntsge to every county that competes to be derived from the fact that its citizens realise what a difference a little effort will mske when rightly directed. To enter such a contest is in itself an eduestion to sny county in the value of getting out of the rut and proving the possibilities of the county's resources. Jusb, rslt Lake. Secretary Ensign reports that inquiries in-quiries for exhibits of all descriptions are coming from manv quarters. Utah, Wyoming. Idaho and other states as fsr east even as Iowa are represented on the list of inquiries. A letter from Dixon Sons of Psyson, received yes-terdsv, yes-terdsv, says that from all appearances the Utah stste fair this year should have easily the finest cattle show over held in the west. The work of building the new race track is already nine tenths completed. The trsrk will be a dandy, Mr. Ensign declares. Bpectal provision is made for the comfort of women spectators spec-tators in the designing of the grand stand, snd it is placed on a fill, so as to be well above the track, affording an unobstructed- view of every part. This fill, being three feet high at the rear of the stsnd, and sloping down to the level of the track at the fence, is about completed. The cement footing for tbe steel superstructure are ready snd steel work will soon begin. Mora Stables, Too. Another contractor is making good headway in removing the horse stslls to the northwest corner of tbe trsrk; and spplication ia now before the city council coun-cil for the closing of a street so as to extend tie fair grounds to the river front. The letter will be parked, probably prob-ably set out with pools, fountains and pretty wnlks among trees to be planted, and may be utilized as a rest place during dur-ing the fair, as well as for 11 rework ki exhibitions and the like. The parking will probably not be far nnder way this yesr, and there are many other features in tbe plans that will not bs adopted in full until a later late.
