BRYAN, HE IS TO PASS THROUGH SALT LAKE CITY ON THE WAY TO LOS ANGELES. WHERE THE COMMONER COMMON-ER IS TO LECTURE JANUARY 28. BRYAN WELL BE MET AT THE TRAIN HEBE BY JUDGE KINO, JUDGE POWERS, CHAIRMAN MAR-TINEA MAR-TINEA U OF THE STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE, AND OTHEB DEMOCRATIC DEMO-CRATIC LEADERS., WHILE DEFINITE DEFI-NITE PLANS ARE YET TO BE FORMED, AN EFFORT WELL BE MADE TO INDUCE THE DISTINGUISHED DISTIN-GUISHED PARTY LEADER TO STOP OVER IN THIS CITY, AT LEAST BETWEEN BE-TWEEN TRAINS. IF THIS PLAN IS SUCCESSFUL, A DEMONSTRATION WITH A BANQUET WILL BE ARRANGED AR-RANGED IN HIS HONOR, AND POSSIBLY POS-SIBLY ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE MADE FOR HIM TO DELIVER HIS LECTURE HERE. Democratic leaders say that Bryan will be communicated with at once, and an invitation extended to pay this citv a visit. "At I understand it, this is in no sense a political trip," said one of the t Democratic leaders of Salt Lake City this morning. "However, if Mr. Bryan pays us the honor of a visit, as wr ; profoundly hope he may. the active po- I litical workers of the State undoubtedly will take advantage of the opportunity 1 of conferring with him. Mr. Bryan has manv sincere admirers here, and we would all welcome the impetus which we believe a speech in this city would give the Democracy of Utah." Elaborate preparations are being made for the Los Angeles visit. Tim othy Spellacv, chairman of the California Cali-fornia Democratic Ptate central com mittee, is chairman of the committee on entertainment. A public reception and a banquet are to be tendered the. Commoner in the City of Angels, while a private reception will be given in honor of Mrs. Brvan. The lecture which Bryan will deliver on this trip has to do with his recent tour around the greater part of the globe. In it he tells of his visit to for eign lands, notablv Japan. China and other Oriental countries, and points out features of legislation enacted there whieh he considers worthy of emulation by the United States. |
