Brighton, the Cottonwood Cot-tonwood summer camp, wffl probably be the tost to open, as the air that high In the mountains does not balmlfy until the July days. July 4 will be the official opening day at Brighton. At the Salt Palace every vestige of the fire, which destroyed the palace last summer has been removed, and Manager l.lng. who has the lease this summer, has had a corps of workmen engaged In remodeling and cleaning up for a month past, preparatory for the opening next Tuesday. All of the concessions have been Axed up and new ones added, a Mg band stand has been built and the lighting system has been extended and Improved. The track Is In readiness for the opening meet Tueeday night, and the grounds generally are spick and span with newly painted benches and 1m- proved gardens and walks. Two Open Today- The Salt Palace will observe Its preliminary pre-liminary opening tonight, notwithstanding notwithstand-ing the fact that the storms of the past few days have delayed the completion of rertmpjpmentswMchare under way. Special efforts hava been exerted In the matter of providing automobile and carriage parks, and arrangements ar-rangements hava also bean mane wnere-bv wnere-bv automobiles can drive Into the motordrome motor-drome area at night. Tha scenlo railway rail-way has been put In good condition for the season and the route of the miniature railway has been extended and made to run- parallel with the scenlo road. The bed of the lake haa been thoroughly cleaned out and all weeds .and Bebrls have been removed. New row boats have been purchased, and the gardeners have Improved tha floral exhibits to a marked degree. . A coat of red and white paint, several hundred square feet mora of lawns, a, doien big flower beds and tha general remodeling of tha concession buildings have given Wandamere a most beautiful appearance for the opening Tuesday. The new coat of paint extends throughout through-out the resort, taking In the big brides over the lake, the dance pavilion, the Mg entrance building, tha cafe, the chutes and the rest of the buildings. The white and red paint stands out prettily as a background to the rich green lawns and the blue of the lake. Manager Ed McLalland says that after the resort gets open there la not a day on which there Is not some special excursion ex-cursion or outing at tha resort. Almost every church In thr city, practically every club, tha various Mormon wsrds and several of the big outings which heretofore have gone to other placee are bound for Wandamere during the coming season. Agreements In many cases have already been signed. Public School rriday. The feature of next week will be the annual outing of the public schools of the city Friday. No special program has been arranged for fcecoret on day- At night the motordrome will be opened with soma of ths fastest riders m the WThis year, as usual. Wandamere will cater to children. The Wegener resort has been added to and Improved for the accommodation accom-modation of tha crowds expected. in the parks of this city extensive Improvements Im-provements have been made thla year, the Parks and Playgrounds association having been especially active In providing comfortable and b-autiful retreats in the hesrt of the city for the publlo at large. The Utah Light and Railway company has worked out a special schedule of resort and depot cars, which will bs made effective as soon aa the season a rush of pleasure hunters commences. |
