Mrs. Despard, prominent militant suffragette, and two of her companions, were sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment today on the charge of restating the police, when the latter disiwrsed a meeting in Trafalgar square last night. Mra. Despard, who is a sister of the fsajous cavalry general, rir John French, was offered the option of paying pay-ing a fine of tl, but she refused to accept this and was sent to jail. Home eympathisers in .court. who made a demonstration when sentence was pronounced, were ejected by .the attendants. |
