Show JOHN W. TAYLOR AGAIN DEGRADED IN RANK AS CHURCHMAN Former Apostle Now Dis- f elowshiped - for Rea- sons Not Hade Public John W. Taylor, formerly an apostle of the Mormon church, haa been dlsfellow-shlped, dlsfellow-shlped, according to th statement of a wall known member of the church. The action was taken at a meeting of the quorum of the apostles held at the temple last Thursday. While no official announcement an-nouncement has been mads of the sction of the quorum In the mstter. It Is said that there la no questioning what waa dons. When asked regarding the action of the twelve, members have referred the questioners ques-tioners to Apostle Frsncis M. Lyman, president of the quorum. He In turn has referred the matter to Mr. Taylor who has so far declined to discuss the matter. It la understood that while the action of the quorum dlsfellowshlps Mr. Taylor., he haa not been excommunicated from the church. HI position now 1. .miliar to that of the late Mom. Thatcher who wa dropped from th quorum of th apostle, apos-tle, at th April conference, U, on the charge that he was out of harmony with the quorum. At the time that Mr. Thatcher Thatch-er was dropped from th quorum he was stripped of all authority of th priesthood, thu. preventing him from performing any official act In the name of the church. Some time before hi death Mr. Thatcher Thatch-er I said to have remarked that he wa probably the only male member of the church over the age of twenty years who. did not hold any priesthood. The trouble between John W. Taylor, who la a son of the let President John Taylor, and the Mormon church, dates back aeveral years. He I laid to have had th unhappy fculty of making bad breaks In his addresses from time to time. On on occasion he mad a remark concerning con-cerning members of the tabernacle choir for which he had to apologias publicly later. The real trouble, however. Is said to have been his violation of the manifesto of President Woodruff and hla advising ethers to enter tnto polygamy. It la known that he nd other member of th quorum had decided difference of opinion opin-ion on this and other subjects. On April . lftos. official announcement was made at the annual conference by President Francis M. Lyman that John W. Taylor and Matthias F. Cowley hsd resigned ae members of the quorum of the twelve. It waa the general under-teno'ln under-teno'ln at that time and since, that the resignation had been asked for. Just ss It hsd been In the case of Moses Thatcher. Mr. Thatcher, however, refused to tender his resignation.
