Show C0NRIED VOWS HE WILL GIVE "SALOME" NEW YORK, April 9. Heinrich Con-ried, Con-ried, the operatic manager, sails today on the Kaiser Wilhelm II., and will remain in Europe until late in September. Septem-ber. "I have practically no work to do in Europe this summer," Mr. Conried said in an interview, "as the novelties for next season are already selected and every cast, the date of production and the preparation of the scenery and costumes are already arranged for. "I shall give five performances of ' Salome ' in some theater before the regular reg-ular season " opens. 1 will have the original cast. I am compelled by my contract with Straups to do the work. I 1 had heard that other managers were trying to got the English rights for production nere and I told several of the directors of tho Metropolitan Opera and Real Estate company that I would like to give the opera tf they did not think it was done to spite them. They assured me they had no objection to my presenting the opera elsewhere. |
