Show COMMENCEMENT DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL IS FITTINGLY OBSERVED Largest Graduating Class in School's History Receives Diplomas. The class of 1913. SaJt Lake high school, held its commencement exercises Ai the Salt Luke theatre last night and in the presence of an audience of rela tives and friends tliat crowded the historic his-toric old theatre, diplomas uf graduation were presented to the 12 members of the various departments who have completed com-pleted their sclioUstie work. The class Is the largest that has giaduated from the echool. and It probably will be the last tlasa to graduate from the old school building- The girls of the class wore white and the boys wore dark suttu and red carnations, their class color. The high whool orcheatra gave the opening and closing selections, and gave also the accompaniment to the Glee club, which ssng two songs under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Waldron. The decadence of culture In modern schooling waa deplored by Ralph Waldron, lass prealdent. In his address. He expressed ex-pressed the belief that Greek and Latin hon Id be given higher places In the schools of today than are given these languages. Gov. William Spry addressed the class and said ih.it there should be no superstition supersti-tion over the fact that the graduation occurred on Kriday. the 13th of the month, and in the year 1913. and which vear Is also the thirteenth year of the retgn of the "exar" of thla school. Principal George A. Eaton then introduced intro-duced William J. Barrette. who awarded the diplomas, after reading the names of th graduates.
