Show REQUEST COMMISSION TO COVER AQUEDUCT A petition signed by practically every property owner on North Temple street between Main and Third West streets waa received by the city commission com-mission yesterday, asking that immediate imme-diate step be taken to rover the open aqueduct on North Temple street which carries the surplus water from City creek. The ditch, which is eight feet deep and twelve feet wide, with the tides lined with concrete, runs four blocks uncovered and is said to be the most dangerous and flagrant menac to life in the city. Richard P. Morris, commissioner of the department of streets and public improvements, to whom the petition was referred, said that while he waa whollv in favor of covering the ditch, lack of funds would prevent: the work being done this year, nnleas the property prop-erty owner consent to share the expense ex-pense with the city. Mr. Mnrrit estimates esti-mates that tha '-work would coat 2c!.000. while the property owners de elare that contractors have assured them that it can be done for 15,000. |
