CHICAGO, April 2 Federal Jadgs Leodis, hearing the cue of Albert C . Frost and fonr others e harged with Alaskan land frauds, today ordered subpoena laaued for George Tamer, formerly United States senator (rem Washington, and for Patrick M. Mullen. Mul-len. The latter ha testified already, but Turner i wanted as a witness be reus of Frost having testified to be ing guided to some extent by the ad ric of Turner as to the method of acquiring Alaska eoal land. Judge Lendie' aetioa followed the reading today of a letter by the government gov-ernment ia which it appeared Mr. Tor aer had been instrumental ia preventing prevent-ing certain evidence from coming before be-fore the federal judge ia Seattle who la 1911 waa investigating the alleged lead fraud. Osier, Hoskin ft Hareonrt, attorney ia Toronto, was dated January 9, 1911, aad read: "Dear Frost : I hav just had a eon-veraation eon-veraation with Osborne, who has eeen Bo lead, aad as th matter is one about which a letter ought not to be written he inggests that I write yen, so th letter might be privileged. "Bolaad is informed from Turner's office by cipher telegram today that the charge against yourself, Watson aad Laberee are likely to be brought before the grand jury at Seattle at an early date. The banks are very much worked up over this, a a fight of this kind might block their plan. Turner suggested that th evidence of F. H. Stewart will be necessary ia order that a bill may be filed by a grand jury, aad that he had better keep on this side of the line If possible.
