Show Two S. L. Scouts Rescue Youngster From Icy Water Two 17-year-old explorer scouts of troop 210 were acknowledged acknowl-edged Saturday as the life-savers of 8-year-old Donald Moore, who crashed through ice into water five feet deep while sleighing Godwin of 1041 Plerpont avenue, and Dwayne Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph D. Hilbert of 256 South Ninth West street Friday. Donald Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon L. Moore of 2400 West Fifth South street, was sliding slid-ing on an Ice pond near 2300 West Second South street. His sled went near a canal running run-ning through the middle of the pond and fell Into the Icy water. Donald attempted to swim and struggled until the Icy water made him lose consciousness. Dwayne Hilbert, 17, of 256 South Ninth West street, and Stanley Godwin, 17, of 1041 Plerpont avenue, av-enue, near-by skaters, heard his cries for help and dived into the water with clothes and skates on. "We didn't have time to think. We Just did what anybody would have done. It's natural to want to help somebody In trouble," the scouts said. Donald was dragged from the water and revived by artificial respiration and a fire was quickly built. He was taken home and immediately put to bed. The two scouts, stopped In at a neighborhood grocery store to thsw out their Ice-stiffened clothes. Ail three boys were reported In good health Saturday. Stanley Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. e |
