Show BETT BR B U YS FOR HOUSEWIVES THROUGH NEW FOOD STAMP PLAN How Surplus Foods Offer Unusual Value Starting Monday, October 23rd, in All Participating Retail Food Stores in Salt Lake County EVERY family in Salt Lake County, no matter how much or how little there is in the family pocketbook, should obtain greater values through using more foods that are listed as surplus by the Federal 1 Government under the Food Stamp Plan. These surplus foods include: BUTTER, PORK LARD, CORN MEAL, SHELL EGGS, DRIED PRUNES, RAISINS, ONIONS (except green onion), FRESH APPLES, AP-PLES, DRY EDIBLE BEANS, WHEAT FLOUR and WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR (Graham); FRESH PEARS; in addition, SNAP BEANS for month of October only. All of these surplus commodities are available to EVERYONE and are items that should be in every well-balanced well-balanced diet. They represent a real opportunity to save on food purchases. Also, increased consumption of these products now will mean the farmers can buy more city goods. That means, more jobs for city people and better conditions for everyone. PUBLIC ASSISTANCE FAMILIES All persons receiving or eligible eli-gible for any form of relief in Salt Lake County have an opportunity under the Food Stamp Plan to obtain $1.50 worth of food for every $1.00 they spend. Participation is entirely voluntary, but you will want to avail yourself of this opportunity by purchasing orange food stamps and obtaining therewith the free blue surplus food stamps offered you by the Federal Government. These stamps, each good for 25c worth of designated commodities, will be accepted the same as cash by all participating retail food stores in Salt Lake County. These stamps and further information concerning tame may be obtained at the Department of Public Welfare office at 57 South State. ATTENTION, GROCERS: Every grocer within the corporate limits of Salt Lake County is urged to cooperate with the Department of Public Welfare and the Federal Surplus Commodities Corporation to redeem the orange and blue Food Stamps. Grocert may obtain information, in-formation, literature and other data and supplies from the Federal Surplus Commodities Corporation offices at fhe Seuhouse Building Telephone Wasatch 3980, Ext. 243. - Sales under this plan are not exempt from the Utah State Sales Tax.
