Show Church Leaders to Speak On Flag at Armistice Fete Church leaders of Salt Lake City will trace the symbolism of the American flag from 1778 to 1939, at the United Veterans council coun-cil Armistice day program, November 11, at 7:30 p. m. in the L. D. S. tabernacle, it was announced Saturday. Heber J. Grant president of the L. D. S. church, will discuss the meaning of the American flag in 1776, 1813 and 1846. The Right Rev. Arthur W. Moulton, bishop of the Episcopal church In Utah, will speak on the symbolism of the flag during the Civil war period. Samuel H. Gordon, rabbi of Temple Tem-ple B'Nal Israel, will discuss the meaning of the flag In 1898 and the Most Rev. Duane G. Hunt bishop of the Catholic diocese of Sslt Lake, will talk on the 1917 period. The Rev. George 1. Weber, pastor of the First Congregational church, will talk on "The Flag and Conditions Today." Franklin Riter will be master of Ceremonies. The opening prayer will be offered by George A. Faust chaplain of the Disabled American Veterans, and the closing prayer by Calvin S. Smith, chaplain of the 91st Division association. The Thirty-eighth U. S. infantry band from Fort Douglaa will furnish fur-nish the musical program, with sonrs by Dolores Sesl (Mrs. Percy G. Clark) and Mrs. R-1. Alexander. |
