Show New Building Ritual Held Special te The Tslsgraaa PARK Cmr. May 20 Against a background of flag draped streets and buildings, most of tbe population popula-tion of Park City turned out today to witness ths ceremony of laying tbe cornerstons of the War Veterans' Veter-ans' Memorial building. . When finished this summer, the the two and a half-story steel and concrete structure will become a community center and veterans' headquarters. Main street, on which the 111-foot by o-foot building fronts, waa4 thronged for the program. Robert Guy Jr. acted as master of ceremonies. cere-monies. Speakers were Raymond J. Ash-ton Ash-ton of Salt Lake City, architect for the building; Frank B. Bowers of Salt Laks City, ths contractor; former County Commissioners John P. Stevens and Ellas A. Lemon of Summit county, members of the county board that approved the project; Commissioners David Johnson, John-son, John W. Child and Ed. J. Mc-Polin Mc-Polin of ths present board and Mayor Harold W. Hartwell. Invocation was by ths Rev. Edward Ed-ward White. Music was by the Park City high school band. In ths cornerstons were placed a copy of Wednesday's special Park City issue of The Bait Lake Telegram Tele-gram and photographs and histories of Park City civic, fraternal and religious organization. A P W A project, the building will have 60 rooms, with a rifle range in the basement It will house a gymnasium, bowling alleys, offices for the Boy Scouts snd American legion, clubrooms and an auditorium. |
