Show Scahhard and Blade Unit at U Celebrates Birthday of Group Ceremonies Mark Forty-fifth Anniversary of National Military Fraternity As Scabbard and Blade, national military fraternity, celebrated Its forty-fifth birthday anniversary throughout the United States Wednesday, members of the University of Utah joined with a color- ful series of ceremonies. Attired in full dress uniforms throughout the day, members of company M-5 of the frsternlty here began the day's festivities with s flsg-raising ceremony on the campus cam-pus at 8 a. m. Clarence McCourt, captain of the company, was In command, and a large crowd of students and others attended. The final military ceremony of the day was to be "retreat," in which the entire personnel of ths organisation organi-sation was to take part on the campus. Members of the fraternity were to be guests of honor at a matinee dance in the Union building ballroom ball-room at 4 p. m., and at t p. m. Wednesday Wed-nesday a meeting of all R O T C members in the school will be held In the Union building. At the meeting. Lieutenant Colonel C. C, Bank, commandant of the cadet regiment, and Captain Charles A. Swarts will speak on "National Defenss." Taking Part in Anniversary Observance A colorful flag raising ceremony opened the Scabbard and Blade celebration at the University of Utah Wednesday.
