Oct. 11 IM-Sir IM-Sir Oswald Mosley, British fascist leader who was struck on the temple tem-ple with a Jagged stone hurled by a foe In another of England's unruly un-ruly fascist-leftist outbreaks, lay In a hospital today suffering a brain concussion. The slim fascist leader was dangerously dan-gerously but not critically Injured. He toppled over unconscious yesterday yes-terday when he was hit while trying try-ing to address a crowd of 8000. Sir Oswald, a physician at the hospital said. Is "suffering a concussion con-cussion and puncture wound of the skull. A minor operation waa performed per-formed successfully and his condition condi-tion is giving rise to no anxiety at the moment." More than a score of persons were injured and 14 were arrested as police repeatedly charged the fighting crowds. One of those arrested ar-rested was accused of hurling the stone which felled Sir Oswald. Demonstrators sang the "Interna-tionaile," "Interna-tionaile," repeatedly raised clenched fists In the proletarian salute and hurled missiles in wild scenes until police reinforcements arrived and cleared the streets. Sir Oswald, surrounded by a fas-' cist bodyguard, had attempted to address an openair meeting. He climbed atop a loudspeaker truck to harangue the crowd, but was struck down before he uttered a word. The crowd continued to pelt the bodyguard shielding "the leader" while mounted police charged. |
