Thus it la that dispatches from th far east tell that the American Red Cross is devotedly at work wher the warfar has wreaked its greatest damage. They are nursing th afflict-d, afflict-d, whether they be Americans, Chines. Japanese. Japa-nese. French, English or what not. They ar feeding th hungry. They are finding housing of some sort for those whose homes have been, destroyed. They are aiding this government by heloing to get our nationals onto ships for evacuation. evac-uation. Th Red Cros finds many Americans in the Orient with barely enough money to get as far as Manila. To those who cannot make their way to the United States, they are advancing passage funds, taking receipts and notes. From past experience, they know moat of the losns will be repsid. . All this U something to remember in the futur when annual Red Cross roll caUs come long. For the present it is something for Americans Amer-icans to be proud of. For the present, loo, the Red Cros deserve praise and grstilude from the nation and from all whose kin are receiving receiv-ing aid in perilous hours, far from horn in their wretchedness and helplessness. |
