Show Obliging Householder Brings Home Rope, Gun, Poison for Suicide-Inclined Wife, Daughter PONTIAC, Mich., Feb. 8 (UP) Ernest Hunt today said his wife snd stepdsughter hsd tslked of nothing but suicide for weeks, and It was only to humor them thst he took home a rope, a rifle and two bottles of poison. He thinks they were mentally unbalanced. The stepdaughter, Geneva Robinson, 26, wss assaulted as-saulted aeversl months sgo by a youth now in prison, and she snd her mother brooded over It until (hey began talking of suicide. The tslk went on, dsy sfter dsy, and nothing happened, although al-though they nagged at him to get them something with which to kill themselves. He thought It would make them happier If he complied, he ssid, so he went shopping for them Saturday. He didnt believe anything would come of It. They laid out the rope, rifle and poison and deliberated over them for hours. They cut the rope in two, msde nooses of each piece, put one under the ft girl's bed snd the other In the clothes closet. Then they turned their sttentlon to the rifle. Its mechanism seemed to baffle them, so they got out the poison and questioned Hunt at length on how it worked and how long It took. Thereafter they seemed more content and he paid no more attention to them. Yesterday he heard a commotion commo-tion in the bedroom. He found them lying aide by side In bed, writhing in pain.. The poison botlles were empty. They died In a hospital. |
