CALIFORNIA FLOOD TOLL REACHES NINE SAN FRANCISCO, March 4 (UP) Death toll of a $10,000,000 series of floods In northern California Cali-fornia rose to nine today, with throe other persons missing and believed drowned. Although high waters of the Sacramento Sac-ramento and other rivers were steadily receding, a dangerous situation sit-uation still existed at the little Sutter county town of Meridian, where backwash of the flooded Sacramento forced evacuation of the erea and caused Inundation of an additional 60,000 acres, most of It valuable farm land.
