Show LDS Dedicates Deaf Chapel In S. L. Sunday Pres. George Albert Smith of 'the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sunday will dedicate the chapel of the Salt Lake Valley branch for the deaf, 5th South and 8th East Services will begin at 2 pjn. - Other speakers will be WiUard E Barlow, branch president presi-dent snd E. Ross Thurston, second sec-ond counselor In the branch presidency. Vocal solos will be given by Jack Kemker and Jessis Evans Smith. Membere of the branch will act as sign language Interpreters In-terpreters for the speakers and soloists. The new ward chapel completed com-pleted a year agois the culmi-. nation of 28 years' ambition for branch members. First meeting for the deaf was held in 1920 tn Bountiful, with Mr. Barlow as teacher. In August 1921, they began meeting meet-ing In the Temple square bureau of Information and since that time have met In such places as the Salt Lake tabernacle baptistry, bap-tistry, Pioneer stakehall snd Lion House social center. Tha group wss organized as a branch of tha church last November. |
