Show JIMMY DORSEY POSTS BOND IN CLARINET BOPPING CASE ROANOKE, Vs., Nov. 12 UP) A weary Jimmy Dorsey was roused from his slumbers by Roanoke police Saturday to accept service on a warrant charging him with assault on a Richmond, Vs-, milkman. Dorsey's band is playing for dances this week end at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Vs., about 40 miles from here. Dorsey, who is staying at a Roanoke hotel, posted $100 bond for an appearance in Richmond at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. ' Milkman William G. Toney Jr. said in Richmond Thursday Thurs-day that Dorsey bopped him over the head with a clarinet at a dance when he asked Jimmy if he were Tommy Dorsey's brother. Dorsey said that the man had been heckling him for 15 or 20 minutes. ... ."i don't often lose my temper," said Jimmy, "but I finairy got tired of If. . . . .Dorsey was tired of it Saturday. He got back to Roanoke from Tech at 4 a.m. But he didn't lose his temper when Sgt. H. L. Stanley and CpL C. L. Hubbard brought him to headquarters. |
