Enduring less than a week, the bloom wilted away to reveal a dark, cornlike cob at the i top of the stalk, according to Mr. Mills. He obtained his specimens of the plant from a Mrs. Gardner of Oregon, with whom he became acquainted when she visited In Bountiful In 1945. She had found the plants growing sparsely - on a farm she had purchased in .Oregon .Ore-gon and sent a set of bulbs to Mr. Mills to "try out" in a different differ-ent climate. Numerous members of garden clubs In Salt Lake City, lOgden and surrounding communities have gone to Bountiful to view the plants. None ever before had |
